*Remember to study math facts, spelling list and to read and record 20 minutes or more in your reading log DAILY.
Your child should complete 3 or 4 of the spelling activities. The pages with the choices of activities will remain in your child’s folder. Your children have been doing a fantastic job on our weekly spelling tests.

This week in class we will focus on:
Language Arts: We will continue to focus on informational writing, similes, onomatopoeias, parts of speech, commas, quotation marks, plural nouns, and pronouns.
Math: We will complete our unit on measurement-length and using a ruler – inches, feet, centimeters, and meters. Our new unit will be geometry with solid figures. We will work on counting the number of vertices, faces, and corners on solid shapes.
Congratulations to Raaid and his family. They welcomed a new baby boy on Tuesday, February 21. We discovered that Nelson was our shortest baby at 12 inches and Nevin was our longest baby at 22 inches. Here is what else we learned:

Social Studies: We will continue to read about Jackie Robinson and compare and contrast him to Martin Luther King. The children have had some wonderful discussions about these two men and the ideas of segregation and integration.

*Remember to send a note about transportation changes. I do not always have a chance to check my e-mails before the end of the day.
*Car Rider Parents: Please remember to post your number in your windshield.
*Please send a jacket or coat with your child. As we know the temperature can change very quickly. Also remember to put your child’s name in their jackets, coats, sweatshirts, and sweaters.

Feb. 28, 2012-March 1, 2012. Read Across America
We will go to the book fair on Tuesday. Your child will be permitted to go to the book fair to purchase book during the week. Because of the book fair, we will not be going to the media center to check out books. We have AR books in the classroom and as always, please visit the public library.

Friday, March 2- Wear a costume for Cat and the Hat or another Dr. Seuss Character
