Our Vision
Bells Ferry Elementary is a school where students, staff and parents are given the instruction, support and guidance to develop individually, emotionally, physically, and socially to their fullest potential.

Our Mission
The mission of Bells Ferry Elementary School is to establish and maintain a positive and safe learning environment that promotes maximum educational, social, physical and emotional growth for every student.

Our Students’ Mission

Boys and girls must be safe, all day, every day.

Boys and girls must be learning, all day, every day.

 

Our Beliefs

  • WE BELIEVE that home and school should work together to provide experiences leading to the development of academic skills, aesthetics, good citizenship, self discipline, responsibility and moral values.
  • WE BELIEVE that our school should provide a positive, safe atmosphere which encourages eagerness for learning.
  • WE BELIEVE that our educational program for Bells Ferry students should be carefully planned and individualized to the rate of growth and development of the individual while targeting established standards.
  • WE BELIEVE that students at Bells Ferry should be taught basic and extended communication and mathematical skills to provide a basis for continued academic development and personal growth.
  • WE BELIEVE that all children can learn and that Bells Ferry should teach and assess measurable skills as the foundation of its basic instructional program.
  • WE BELIEVE that the Bells Ferry community (our staff, parents and students) should foster the social development of our students based on recognized values that promote good citizenship.

Welcome Back to School

 "Dear students, the summer has ended.

The school year at last has begun.

But this year is totally different.

We're going to only have fun.

 

"We won't study any mathematics,

and recess will last all day long.

Instead of the pledge of allegiance,

we'll belt out a rock-and-roll song.

 

"We'll only play games in the classroom.

You're welcome to bring in your toys.

It's okay to run in the hallways.

It's great if you make lots of noise.

 

"For homework, you'll play your Wii.

You'll have to watch lots of T.V.

For field trips we'll go to the movies

and get lots of candy for free.

 

"The lunchroom will only serve chocolate

and triple fudge sundaes supreme."

Yes, that's what I heard from my teacher

before I woke up from my dream.

Greetings From Ms. Pitts

Hello, I am Shannon Pitts, mother to Laurynn and Landen and now your child’s teacher.  I am a native of Birmingham, Alabama and graduated from the University of Montevallo in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood/Elementary education.

 

            I have taught in Alabama, Kentucky, and now Georgia collectively a total of thirteen years.  This is my seventh year at Bells Ferry Elementary.  During my tenure as a teacher, I have conducted professional development workshops, mentored student teachers, and was named Teacher of the Year for the Birmingham City School District.  I recently graduated with my masters in school counseling.

 

           I enjoy spending time with my family.  I am looking forward to teaching your boys and girls and working with you in continuing their journey as lifelong learners!
