Each day let's challenge ourselves to expand our divergent thinking skills! Imagine what we can invent, discover, and CREATE, when we think outside the box!

Talents!

Balanced Math shows first graders that four is the same as four, three plus one equals four, and other combinations create a balance as well! Math is a joy for our beginning problem solvers who can manipulate their 10gram weights to demonstrate sameness. This math teacher wishes she had manipulatives like this when she was six!

Journey Through Space!

Second and third graders analyzed information about the early astronomers, and took Newton's lead by experimenting to determine if weight impacts gravity! Our young scientists shared their lofty goals (inventors all!) and reflected on their hypotheses from the day. What an inspiring group of learners!

The Middle Ages and you!!

The Middle Grades are learning about the Middle Ages! Today we used our evaluative thinking skills to ponder the advantages of being a peasant, knight, nobleperson, or clergy member.  Our new Tally Page has Target's "Creed"---CONVERGENT thinking, REFLECTION, EVALUATIVE thinking, excellence in our daily work, and DIVERGENCE!  Each week students will write goals, define vocabulary, make connections, brainstorm, and self assess.   Target kids are setting the STANDARD :-)

Next week's homework is to bring a book, article, photo, or craft indicitive of the Middle Ages!

Sneak a Peek in portable #8 Friday 4-6pm!

Welcome back, Target students and parents! How I miss you!  I am really  looking forward to a MOST EXCITING YEAR!!  For the first day of Target (listed below) please bring your index card telling us why you are a star (our affective skills are being developed this year!) Also, come to class with your three ring binder, colored pencils in a case, sharpened pencils, snack, and water bottle. We have an intensive, mind-probing semester of activities to stretch our imaginations and higher level thinking skills. Read on for important dates to keep in mind...!

Bells Ferry teachers want to accelerate learning, and give your children opportunities for challenge in the classroom! To supplement this higher level thinking that goes on every day in all classes, I am lucky to additionally have the opportunity to teach  first and second graders. There is no greater joy in watching students solve problems, think outside the box,and think critically. Creativity is the key, so here's to a year of invention, and magic!
