Balanced Math shows first graders that four is the same as four, three plus one equals four, and other combinations create a balance as well! Math is a joy for our beginning problem solvers who can manipulate their 10gram weights to demonstrate sameness. This math teacher wishes she had manipulatives like this when she was six!
