Can you combine features from two researched snakes to create a 3D model which can better adapt to its unique environment? Third graders will display their "dream" reptiles on March 14th. Stay tuned!
Stay tuned for fifth grade award creations. Using recylable materials, on March 13th students will share an award developed specifically for their researched character. Opportunities to utilize our divergent thinking standard help us to expand the way we view our world, solve problems, and develop novel solutions.
"If you can keep your head while all about you..." remarked Rudyard Kipling. Fifth graders demonstrated that kind of moral courageousness when they impressively presented their character's brave attributes. Our rubriks concur...thoroughness, clarity, and creativity were exhibited by all!
BUCKETS, the MUSICAL! An original student written and performed musical will be presented Monday, March 5th at 3pm for ASP participants and parents. The forty minute, twenty character show will highlight all the ways we could "fill a bucket" to make others' days! Through kindness and compliment, the dance Talent Show scenes will sing Elvis-inspired tunes. "You ain't nothing but a helper...!" Come Monday for the fun :-)
Nothing is more exciting than introducing first and second graders to the standards by helping them learn how they think, and why! Whether students are encouraged to find one right answer, or brainstorm all the possibilities, they are weekly encouraged to discover as well as to create! Problem solving which involves logic and reasoning peppers their evaluative thinking activities. MONDAYS are now are 1st/2nd grade Target days, and we are thrilled to explore what the weeks ahead will bring! Thank you parents for helping your students to be prepared, and enthusiastic about learning!
Ask any third grade Target student how a snake depends on its anatomy to survive, and you will be in for a treat! Through research, games, and logical problem solving activities, students are learning how snakes impact our world and survive in their diverse habitats! Behavioral and physical adaptations are noted, and conclusions generated. A ssssensational topic, for sure!
Tuesday, March 28th will be an exciting time for students who will dress in character as courageous historic figures! Our evaluative thinking standard will be explored as students reflect on their researched heroe's quotation, relating others' words to their actions. Who Comes With Cannons and The Red Badge of Courage are Civil War sources we also are enjoying. What a wonderful class!
